A Glimpse of Three

Today I got a small glimpse.   A glimpse in to what, you may ask?  A glimpse of what it is going to be like with three children.   In church today, I held my friend's 1 month old baby.  I wanted to cuddle with him and love him because he is so tiny and beautiful.  I thought it would be nice and relaxing to hold him while I was listening to the speakers.  I was wrong. As soon as I got him, Kennedi and Kaden were so excited to see him.  I have quickly learned over the past couple of weeks, that Kaden LOVES new babies.  He is very gentle with them and carefully watches them with a huge grin on his face.  So, I wasn't too concerned about him poking or hurting the baby. After the first initial excitement wore off, I soon found myself trying to hold a delicate baby, while trying to still control my 18 month old during Sacrament meeting.  Kennedi was sitting in between me and Jerrod and was doing her best to keep entertained.   Le...

At the Park with Uncle Brent

Image
About a two weeks ago, my brother left for spring training for baseball season.  He came to spend a day with us before he left for a while.  It is always fun to have him here.  I can just see that he loves to be an uncle.  It was a prety nice day, so we took the kids to the park for a couple of hours.  It was so much fun.  Brent got a hold of my camera and took a bunch of photos.  I think he did a pretty good job! Kaden kept wanting to take this lady's ball. They love looking for rocks. Sadly (for my kids) this is the closest Kennedi will get to having a dog for a VERY long time.  A really nice lady had a few dogs that she let Kennedi pet. I really love my brother.  We haven't always been close (and that is a complete understatement).  But now that we are older, we are great friends.  I miss him when I don't get to see him very often, but I am so happy that he is being able to get to live part of his dream.  So, Kennedi ...

Brother For Sale

Kennedi has been asking for a baby sister for quite a while now.  (hint hint, I know!!!) Today we went to visit one of my best friends in the hospital who just had a baby girl.  Our first two babies are about 6-7 weeks apart, so we had made it a tradition that I would go visit her, and then 6-7 weeks later, I would be back at the same hospital having my baby.  Well, we all know that the tradition was over with this one!  Sorry Katie!  So, I think that it got Kennedi thinking even more now that Riley has a baby sister and Kennedi doesn't.  So, on our way home she said,  "Mom, when I get rid of Kaden, can I get a baby sister?"   I then, kindly reminded her that Kaden is her brother forever. It is a good thing that Kennedi doesn't use the computer yet or you may find an ad on Craigslist from her trying to get rid of her brother!   Can you imagine when we do have another baby, and it turns out to be a boy?  Oh the devastation of a 4 yea...

Valentines Day Weekend

Image
This Valentines Day was pretty low-key for us.  At the end of January, we went to see "South Pacific" which we decided was our date for Valentines Day since it was pretty expensive.  So, Valentines weekend, we just spent time together as a family.  Earlier in the week, Jerrod gave Kennedi and me our gift.  It was fun heart cookie cutters and sprinkles.  Kennedi and I love making cookies together, so that was a fun activity for us during the week.  On Friday, we took the kids swimming.  We had a blast.  Their smiles and giggles were priceless.  Saturday we just hung out and didn't really do anything.  Saturday night I made this for Jerrod-- A homemade "Edible Arrangements".  Since Jerrod has been doing so well trying to eat healthy and lose weight, I wanted to give/make him something that he could enjoy.  It was yummy.  We cuddled up with a movie and snacked on this yummy fruit.  It was my first attempt at something li...

Zoo

Image
A couple of weekends ago, we took the kids to the Zoo on a beautiful day.  The sun was shining and the kids were smiling.  Overall, it was a great day.  The kids had a great time looking at the animals, and we had an even better time watching our kids have fun. This was the closest that we had ever been to a hippopotamus.  It was so neat to watch him open his mouth to get a drink. Kennedi was obsessed with the map.  She was always wanting to know where we were going next.  She kept pointing out different directions and didn't want to let go of the map!   Okay, I know that some of these are out of order, but my Mac won't let me fix the problem.  So, there you have it.

8 Years

Eight years ago today at 3:38 am, my life changed forever.  My sweet baby Alex was born.  Once again, if you would like to read my story click here .  I just had to write a few words expressing my thoughts and feelings about today. Every year, my heart is full as I replay the days around February 11, 2002.  I play over and over again my labor story, and how I was so scared.  Then, my heart gets full with thanks as I think about Susan and her amazing support to me at that time.  I really don't know how I would have done it without her.  I felt her love as she was there with me.  I then remember the phone calls to my family and to the birth father, informing them that I was in labor.  I could just hear the panic in their voices to get to me,  777 miles away.   I remember details, like hearing the anesthesiologist say that "It only stings little bit...like a little mosquito bite" in his Asian accent, and then thinking that he must h...

Always Be Prepared

Image
Jerrod just got back from England and brought me this.  My husband is always one to "be prepared".  I don't know if this is more for his sake or mine, but either way, I love it!!  Thanks Honey! It says:  " For immediate relief of:  Chocolate Cravings, Lovesickness, Exam Pressure, Mild Anxiety and Extreme Hunger. Directions for use:   Tear open wrapper, break off desired dosage and consume.  Alternatively massage into the affected area.  Repeat dosage as required until finished.   If symptoms persist consult your local confectioner."
