The Fourth

Image
The Fourth of what? you may ask.  The fourth of October...since we are at the end of October right?!?!   Ummm  Nope.   The Fourth of JULY.  We are getting closer though!!  :) We had a great 4th of July this year.  We spent it at the Spencer's home with great friends and great food.  I made this cupcake flag for dessert.  We took some family photos before the kids got too dirty!  The kids enjoyed time with their friends.  Kohen enjoying ice cream.  (Now we know he is allergic to dairy.  Oops.) Super sad that it is gone....  The kids loved watching the fireworks, but didn't love the noise they made.  Some friends playing with sparklers!

Kohen and the Cat Food

Image
One night when Kohen was 7+ months old, I found that he had scooted all the way over to the cat food and water.  He made a mess, and he loved every second of it!!!   Needless to say, he was SOAKED!

Kennedi's Bike

Image
At the end of June, Jerrod found a bike on Craigslist for Kennedi.  We got a really good deal on it and it was in great condition.  We couldn't wait to give it to her.   I love how excited and surprised she was.  Kaden was also very excited for his sister. She really used every opportunity she could to ride her bike during the Summer.   Now if we could only find a bike for Kaden.....

Father's Day 2011

Image
Ummmm  yes I realize that it is October, but I am backed up through Father's Day, so bear with me. Last year, we made Jerrod a Father's Day tie and he said, "I would really be okay if this is the only thing that I got every year."  Well, it is our new tradition.  This year, I LOVED the tie that we made for him.  It was a bit tricky fitting 3 hands on it, but we got it figured out and I thought it turned out really cute. We sure love Jerrod.  He is an amazing father and husband.  I am so thankful for him and the man that he is.  The kids adore their Daddy and are always very excited to see him when he gets home from work.  When I married him, I had no idea just how wonderful of a father he would be.  Of course, I thought he would be, but when we became parents I fell even more in love with him.  Watching him with our children makes me so happy.  He is wonderful and he loves his babies.

Kennedi and Mary

Image
One day Kennedi came to me and told me that she wanted to look like Mary (in the painting at the top) holding baby Jesus.  It was so sweet.  It made me grateful for art pieces like that that I have displayed in my home.  I feel in love with that painting by Liz Lemon Swindle when Jerrod and I first got married.  He surprised me on our first Christmas with it as a way to tell me that he was ready to start a family.   I wanted nothing more than to be a mother.  I love the painting of Mary holding her sweet baby, whom is my Savior Jesus Christ.  I display that in my home year round, to remind me of the amazing responsibility that I have of raising my children to return to our Heavenly Father.   Seeing Kennedi wanting to replay what she saw in that painting helped me to know that I am at least doing something right.

School's Out for the Summer

Image
Okay, so I am blogging about the last day of school in October, but you know me.  I am just now catching up. Kennedi LOVED preschool.  In fact, she was pretty sad that it was over for the Summer.  She loves Mrs. Spencer and couldn't wait to get back to school this year.  It was so fun to watch how much she progressed in one school year.  I enjoyed so much being able to help out every once in a while to observe Kennedi in her "own environment".  She was a very good student with many friends. I just got a couple of photos of her on the last day.  This is one of Kennedi's friends, Luke R. The greatest teacher ever!  Mrs. Spencer

Kennedi's Guide to Feeding a Baby

Image
This should have been posted a long time ago!!!! Step #1: Carefully guide the spoon into baby's mouth. Step #2 (and this may be the very MOST IMPORTANT of all): You must, I repeat, MUST open your mouth as you insert the spoon into the baby's mouth.    Step #3:   It is absolutely necessary to get the food all over the baby's face.  Step #4: Gently wipe away the excess food from the baby's lips and chin.  Step #5: Strategically wipe the extra food from the spoon onto a clean spot on the bowl.  Step #6: Follow all of these steps, and you are sure to have a happy, full and of course, messy, but adorable baby!
