Oh no.  Today I heard something out of Kennedi's mouth that has got me scared.  A little three letter word that she will say millions of times over again.  I just didn't want it to start today.   I told her to do something.  I don't remember what it was but she came back with the word, "WHY?"  And then, I followed by saying, "Because I said so."  AAAAHHHH!!  Memories came flooding back to my mind of growing up and asking my parents "why" and them saying "because I said so."  I always swore to myself growing up that I would ALWAYS have a reason for my children when they asked "why?"  Well, I see that promise to myself quickly going out the window.  But, I will do my best to always explain "why" I say something.  And other times, it may just be "because I said so!"   I love being a parent to these amazing little spirits.  Kennedi teaches us about being a parent just as much as we teach her new things.  It i...

Growing up, I always played basketball.  That was a sport that made sense to me.  #1 It is an indoor sport.  #2 The ball is actually big enough to see when it is flying straight at you.  #3 You don't have to run the ENTIRE time.  And #4 I just loved playing.   The one sport I didn't understand was Cross Country.  I thought those kids were just nuts.  What on Earth makes a person want to just run??!!  How is that fun?   Even as I got older and would hear of  people who would be training for some sort of run. (ex: 5-k, 10-k, half marathon or a marathon)  Still, I thought those people were crazy.   I have played basketball with a group of girls once a week for about 2 years now and they would talk about training for a run.  I would then join their conversation laughing at them (in a nice way) and tell them how that was just crazy talk and that I would NEVER do something like that.   Well, we all know the saying..."Never Say Never"    Because I did it...I registered for a...

Sometimes I wish that I could have my own little Photographer Fairy who could follow me around and take a picture of me and my family or of the kids whenever I said so. Let me give you an example of what the heck I am talking about. Early this morning, Kaden wouldn't fall back asleep, so we just put him in bed with us so that we could get some sleep. At about 5:30, Kennedi came into our room wanting to crawl in bed with us. At 8:00 when we all started to wake up, Jerrod and I just smiled as we realized that our whole family was in bed together on a Sunday morning. There we were, Kitty, Kennedi, Kaden, me and Jerrod all cuddled up in our bed. THAT is when I wished that I had my little Photographer Fairy flying above my bed to take a picture of us all lying there together. Instead, I just had to take a picture in my heart. There is one thing that Jerrod and I decided that we were thankful that we did have: A King Size Bed.

This morning, I dressed Kennedi in a little cute black checkered dress that used to be my sister Kylie's. I will admit that at first I didn't really like the dress, but I thought that I would just see what she looked like in it. She was adorable. It made her look all grown up. Jerrod told me to put her hair in a little "Sarah Palin" updo, but I just figured a "messy bun" would be good enough. She really looked so dang cute. Well, you can see for yourself... There is a cute dress underneath that matches this outer jacket. My little boy looked very cute too. Everyone always says that he looks like a little man. So, here is a picture of the family right before church.

Well, we all know what happened last night.  We will have a new President in January.  I have been thinking all night about how our world really will "change".  And I am not sure that it is for the better......BUT, I do keep thinking about one thing.  Right now, we can't do anything about the fact that Obama is our next president.  It is said and done.  We don't have to like it and by no means am I saying that I like it or that I approve of the decision, BUT, we must accept it.   I encourage us all to now go on and not say terrible things about our next president.  I don't think that it will help make things better.  We should try to be good examples toward those around us.   These two scriptures say it better than I could: 3 Ne. 11: 29   29 For verily, verily I say unto you, he that hath  the  spirit  of   a contention  is not  of  me, but is  of   the   b devil , who is  the  father  of   contention , and he stirreth up  the  hearts of  men to contend with anger...

One of my friends will just write out really quickly conversations that she has with her toddler.  I decided that this was a great idea so that I can remember all of the funny and cute things that Kennedi says.   Here is my first entry: Kennedi:  I hungry, Mom. Mom:  Okay, what should we eat? Kennedi:  Food  (in the "duh" tone of voice like what else would we eat??)

Today I did something that I have never done before....I voted.   Last major election, I was in Ecuador, so I didn't get the chance to vote.  I actually didn't really feel that it was that important then.  I have actually been very excited to vote this year.  I do live in a very democratic state, and some may say that my vote doesn't matter.  I can't help but feel that in some way my one vote is making a difference.  Just being able to declare my vote for who I want to lead our country and state makes me feel like as a citizen of the United States that I have a say.  Our state more than likely will go Democratic, but I voted my way and I feel good about it.   I also couldn't help but feel how important this election is.  I looked at my children and thought about how they are going to grow up in this scary world.  I am so thankful that I have the Gospel of Jesus Christ to follow and to help me be a good parent.  I am thankful that my children will also grow up with t...
